Volume II gives voice to women who believed their experiences could never be revealed and provides a platform for them to be heard. These courageous First Ladies tell how their husbands, leaders in both the church and community, are involved in: adultery, incest, gambling, homosexuality, alcoholism/drug use, mental cruelty, pornography use/addiction, pedophilia, and physical abuse. The church has historically been a dominant source of strength and hope for communities across the nation. What course of action do you take when this once stable source isn't strong or healthy? What do you do when the very institution that has supported and bolstered our community has an aggressive cancer? As is the case in the medical field, invasive surgery now becomes necessary. The church is ill and has a raging cancer, which has been metastasizing for years. When your husband is a prominent member of the church or society, and is engaging in heinous acts of abuse, to whom can you speak about your experience and suffering? First Ladies perceive this answer to be "no one." As a result they are suffering greatly in silence due to misguided, although well intentioned, childhood and cultural teachings and attitudes. For this and many other reasons, an intervention is desperately needed and an inner healing is paramount. This cancerous abuse has weakened our church and left its members prey to leaders who pillage for personal gain and to satisfy their own lascivious desires.
